Native Cultural Awareness Training

Alaska Landscape

Fairweather provides in-depth cultural awareness training led by experts in native Alaskan culture, including village elders who have served as community leaders most of their lives. These individuals bring great insight into the many native customs and regulations governing activities on the North Slope. Fairweather has developed specific training modules for the different regions of the North Slope and coastal areas of the Chukchi and Beaufort Seas. Cultural awareness training and certification is provided for all workers taking part in activities affecting these regions. Fairweather also offers management-based cultural awareness training to companies seeking advanced cultural and regulatory knowledge to assist in making important decisions and developing critical strategies relating to their activities in Alaska.

Native educators George and Maggie Ahmaogak are the principle authors of Fairweather's cultural awareness curriculum. They are actively engaged in teaching and sharing their personal experiences and insights to ensure that companies are aware of the many native laws and customs that affect business in Alaska.
