Ice Forecasts

Long range forecasts for the beginning of the shipping season for the Beaufort Sea can be provided as early as May 5th. Check with us for other seas. Break-up forecasts can also be provided for individual bays or locations.
Accurate short range (48 hour) forecasts of ice motion can be provided. Ice
observations required.

Weather, Marine, and Sea-Ice Forecasts
Fairweather can provide complete ice forecast service for vessels operating in arctic environments. Remote sensing of current ice conditions, forecasts of break-up and freeze-up, ice growth and decay, and 16 day forecasts of ice motion are available from Fairweather for any of Alaska's waters. Ice analysis is accomplished by the use of satellite imagery from a variety of satellites.
Weather forecasts for specific sites. Animated maps of
atmospheric pressure, wave heights, and other parameters are
provided depending on client needs.
