HSE Support Program

Industry-Leading Experience

Fairweather has a long history of working safely in the Arctic, and is committed to sharing this knowledge and experience with companies serving Alaska's natural resources industry. Fairweather's award-winning health, safety and environment (HSE) services are based on strict adherence to industry-best practices and a dedication to the philosophy that nobody gets hurt on the job. Fairweather offers a complete range of HSE-related products, including the development and field execution of custom-tailored HSE plans, performance auditing and continuous improvement models.

Award-Winning Performance

Supporting operations in the Alaskan arctic since 1976, Fairweather is recognized as a proven leader in HSE performance. According to Petroleum News, August 18, 2002, Fairweather "pioneered an entirely new category of oilfield services as a contract operator for hire." This innovative working arrangement has allowed leaner oil companies to excel on the Alaskan North Slope, supported by a professional turnkey HSE staff with extensive Alaskan experience. In addition to promoting field safety performance, Fairweather is also known for its exemplary workplace safety, evidenced by the 2015 Cole Griggs Award for Safety presented by BP and the 2015 Governor's Award for Safety Excellence presented by the State of Alaska.

Training and Core Competencies

Fairweather's HSE training is dedicated to the concept that education and awareness is the cornerstone of an effective safety program. The training staff includes highly credentialed and experienced personnel, including professional engineers (PEs), certified safety professionals (CSPs), certified industrial hygienists (CIHs), fire fighters and mobile intensive care paramedics. In addition to fully staffed training facilities in Anchorage and Deadhorse, Fairweather offers customized on-site training programs tailored to meet the specific needs of any company operating in the Arctic.

HAZWOPER

Fairweather has provided OSHA HAZWOPER (Operational Safety Health and Administration Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response) training in Alaska for over 25 years. The HAZWOPER instructor team consists of fire fighters, industrial hygienists and industry experts providing a rich and informative instructional experience. The curriculum includes an eight-hour refresher course, a 24-hour awareness course and a 40-hour OSHA compliance course. The courses are conducted at Fairweather's training facilities in Anchorage and at the Fairweather Deadhorse Aviation Center in Prudhoe Bay.

Root Cause Analysis

Learning from errors is an important factor in continuous improvement, and Fairweather specializes in offering state-of-the-art root cause analysis (RCA) training. Training includes a four-hour awareness program in which the "five whys" are taught, along with a comprehensive 24-hour RCA class designed to examine the complex relationships between decisions and events so prevalent in today's industrial incidents.

OSHA Outreach Training

Fairweather offers 10- and 30-hour OSHA construction and general industry outreach training. Upon successful completion, candidates will be issued an OSHA card — highly valued in today's workplace.

Safety Leadership Workshop

Fairweather's safety leadership training is geared to executive- and mid-management-level leaders in any organization and is designed to test the current knowledge base related to specific occupational health and safety concerns. The workshop examines leadership traits, performance gap analysis, proactive hazard identification and future control strategies.
